AI virtual try on guide for garment references and detail checks

Plan AI virtual try on with clear person and garment references, shopping versus merchant workflows and free input and garment-detail review downloads

Original fictional fashion editorial with cobalt jacket on hanger and adult model against yellow and coral paper shapes with Try the Look lettering

AI virtual try-on previews a specific garment on a selected person or digital model. Start with the person reference and the item you actually want to show, then inspect the garment details in the result. A generated preview can support a style decision; it does not verify a clothing size, comfort or physical fit.

This independent guide separates shopping try-on from a merchant's product-image workflow. It includes an original input record and a garment-detail review sheet. The cover is fictional editorial art, not an authenticated try-on result. We did not connect a provider account, run a garment transfer or test a physical garment.

Choose shopping preview or product presentation

Your goalStarting materialImportant review
Preview a shopping itemSupported listing and chosen person imageWhether the pictured item remains recognizable
Show an owned garment on an existing modelApproved product and person referencesGarment details and person consistency
Create a model around a productProduct reference and model directionWhether a new generated person is appropriate
Invent an outfitStyle briefWhether a concept rather than a specific item is the intended output

For creative clothing changes, use the separate AI clothes changer guide. Here the item reference is the source of truth. A similar blue jacket is not an adequate substitute when a shop needs to show its actual collar, pockets and closures.

Use the supported shopping route

Google's shopping instructions describe opening a supported listing's try-on option and supplying a person photo. Check whether the feature is available for the item and account you are using rather than assuming every listing supports it.

A later Google announcement describes a US option that turns a selfie into a full-body digital image, alongside the original full-body-photo and model routes. That generated body image is itself a visualization. The announcement does not establish access in every location or prove the item's physical fit.

For the named model workflow, use the Leffa try-on and pose-transfer guide with its original garment references and filled detail review.

For the platform-specific task choice, use the FASHN AI workflow guide and original coat reference kit to distinguish Try-On from Product to Model, Model Swap and Packshot.

Prepare a specific person and product pair

For a merchant workflow, save the approved person image separately from the garment image. Use references you own or have permission to use. Give each file an unambiguous role so a scene reference cannot accidentally become the product reference.

FASHN's Try-On documentation describes applying a product to an existing model photo. It distinguishes this from Product to Model, which generates a model around the product. The documented tool accepts a model and product image, with optional instructions. Its preservation claims are vendor descriptions, not results from a test conducted for this page.

Download the original input record. Record the person file, garment file, item identifier, required details and intended output. Keep unresolved product facts blank rather than allowing the generated picture to invent them.

Specify the change without redesigning the item

Apply the approved cobalt jacket from the product reference to the person in the model reference. Keep the jacket's collar, pocket placement, closures, color and hem recognizable. Preserve the selected person's face, pose and background. Do not invent logos, change the product design or add accessories. Prepare one candidate for review.

This is an original planning brief, not a provider-specific request schema or a tested result. If the product photo contains several garments, identify the item you want to transfer. Avoid asking for a new pose, background and garment transfer all at once when you need to diagnose which step failed.

Inspect the garment before judging the styling

Compare the collar shape, number and placement of visible closures, pocket edges, hem length and sleeve boundaries with the approved reference. Inspect prints or logos separately from the overall color. A convincing silhouette can hide a pocket that moved or a pattern that changed.

Download the blank garment-detail review sheet. Record the actual input and candidate files, inspected feature, observed difference and acceptance decision. It contains no prefilled success claim because no garment-transfer result accompanies this guide.

Then inspect the person: face, hair, hands, body outline and pose. Check contact around cuffs, neck and waist. If an extra change matters, record it and correct that issue before making more campaign images. The last generated image should not silently replace the original approved product reference.

Keep endpoint versions separate

For developers, use the exact API reference for the selected operation. FASHN's v1.6 parameter guide describes model and garment inputs for that endpoint and points Max users to a different interface. Do not transplant a category, field name or default from one version into another without checking the actual schema.

Test one accepted image-and-product pair before automating a catalog. Keep the request settings, output identifier and review outcome together. A completed API job is evidence of file delivery, not evidence that the pictured garment is accurate.

Check sizing outside the generated image

Use the seller's size information and actual garment or body measurements when choosing a size. A visual preview cannot confirm seam stretch, fabric feel, movement or comfort. It also cannot verify that a generated body corresponds to a person's real measurements.

For commercial presentation, compare the final image with the actual item and the approved product photography. Keep any visual corrections traceable. Do not publish a redesigned collar or closure as though it were a faithful product photograph.

Build a campaign after one candidate passes review

Once the garment and person checks pass, plan the wider set with the AI lookbook workflow. For motion, use the fashion-video continuity guide and watch the whole clip: fabric edges and details that look stable in a still can change during movement.

Explore Clout Marketing Studio for campaign visuals with accurate owned references. This page does not claim that Clout runs Google's shopping feature or the FASHN endpoints. Keep each tool's actual output and account requirements distinct while reviewing the campaign against the same approved item.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

What is AI virtual try on

It visualizes a specific garment on a selected person or digital model. Review the pictured product details and person consistency before accepting the output.

Does virtual try on tell me my clothing size

A generated preview does not verify size, comfort or physical fit. Use the seller's size information and actual measurements for sizing decisions.

What images do I need for a garment try on workflow

A merchant workflow generally starts with an approved person image and a product reference accepted by the selected tool. Shopping features may instead use a supported product listing and an uploaded or selected person image.

Are the cover images real try on results

No. The cover is independently generated fictional editorial artwork. This guide does not include an authenticated garment-transfer test or a physical fitting.
