Ovi AI video generator guide for synchronized picture and sound

Plan Ovi audio-video generation with version-aware prompts, an original sound-event brief and a review worksheet. Separate hosted access from Clout alternatives.

What Ovi generates

Ovi is an audio-video model from Character AI and Yale researchers. It accepts text or text with an image to generate picture and sound together. That makes it relevant when the scene needs a visible action, an atmosphere and a short line of dialogue to belong to the same take. A model with native audio still requires careful listening and visual review.

The official Ovi repository identifies the Ovi 1.1 update as November 10, 2025. This is an established open-model workflow, not a newly announced October 2026 launch. The update describes ten-second generation and changes the audio-description format to Audio:. Match your prompt to the exact selected version rather than copying an older example unchanged.

Choose the input route deliberately

A text-only request leaves the initial composition to the workflow. A text-plus-image request supplies a visual starting point. Use the second when a particular original character, room or product arrangement matters, while recognizing that a starting image is not a guarantee of perfect preservation through motion.

Download the blank audio-video review sheet before your first test. Record the provider, exact version, input source and observed output. It is a planning worksheet, not a model evaluation result or an automatic audio analyzer.

Write one audible event and one visible action

An original adult ceramic artist stands at a quiet workbench beside one plain clay cup. Medium locked camera. The artist gently sets the cup on the wooden table, pauses, then smiles toward the camera. Keep the cup shape, apron and room arrangement consistent. Audio: one soft ceramic contact sound when the cup meets the table, quiet room ambience and no music. No dialogue or additional people.

This is an authored, untested Ovi 1.1 planning prompt. It limits the first exercise to an event that can be checked: a visible contact and a corresponding sound. It does not demonstrate exact synchronization, physical accuracy or model quality. A short scene with one clear event is easier to assess than several overlapping actions.

For a speaking version, write one short original line and use the speech conventions required by the actual endpoint or wrapper. Keep the spoken words separate from the description of how the room should sound. Do not assume a hosted endpoint exposes every control in the research repository. Preserve the accepted request beside the exported file.

Review sound and picture as separate evidence

First watch silently. Check identity, hands, cup shape, contact with the table and continuity across the take. Then listen without looking. Check for unintended speech, clipped endings, unwanted music and distracting noise. Finally watch with sound to judge whether the contact and any mouth movement align convincingly.

Record concrete observations rather than a single score. A clean voice can coexist with a changing face, and a convincing visual action can have the wrong impact sound. If the mismatch is local, decide whether a controlled edit is appropriate. If it changes the intended event, simplify the scene and compare a new approved test with the original.

Separate local research from hosted access

The repository provides inference code, weights and configuration examples. Its published timing table describes a specific 121-frame, 720-square, fifty-step setup. Those figures are not a promise for every machine, version, hosted queue or ten-second request. Check the exact hardware and configuration before treating a research example as a production estimate.

The research project page links to its code, model card and demonstration material. Follow the official project links when locating access, then inspect the selected service’s actual settings and terms. This guide does not install Ovi, run its code or establish a provider price.

Use Clout alternatives with an explicit boundary

The Clout first-party image/video catalog checked for this guide does not list Ovi. The Clout Image and Video Studio is a separate creation workflow, not an Ovi endpoint. Select an available model and inspect its audio support, inputs and current credit quote before generating.

Use the ComfyUI workflow guide to understand workflow files and dependencies, or the generation timing guide to record queue and processing time separately. Neither route changes model availability. Keep your research notes tied to the exact operation you actually used.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

What is Ovi AI

Ovi is an audio-video generation model from Character AI and Yale researchers, with text or text-plus-image inputs.

What changed in the Ovi audio prompt format

The repository’s Ovi 1.1 update uses an Audio description prefix rather than the older audio-caption tags. Check the exact endpoint and version.

Is Ovi available in Clout

The first-party Clout image/video catalog checked for this guide does not list Ovi. The linked studio is a separate alternative workflow.

Does this guide include an Ovi benchmark

No. It supplies an original untested brief and blank worksheet, not a generated sample or measured quality or speed result.
