HeyGen and Creatify can both appear in an AI video shortlist, but you should not evaluate them with a generic prompt such as “make a great ad.” Write the output requirements first. A teaching presenter and an ecommerce product ad need different inputs, pacing and review.
Pick the job before the platform
| Your main job | Starting shortlist | Critical pilot question |
|---|---|---|
| Explain a process with a presenter | HeyGen | Is speech clear and easy to revise? |
| Turn product material into an ad | Creatify | Does the video preserve the product and offer? |
| Reuse one creator across a content series | Clout | Does identity stay recognizable across assets? |
| Edit owned footage | A conventional video editor | Can you finish accurately without generating new scenes? |
These are editorial selection starting points informed by HeyGen and Creatify product pages. They are not hands-on quality scores or exclusive capability claims.
Brief A: a presenter explanation
Give both platforms a short script with unfamiliar product terminology, a pronunciation requirement and one correction. Ask for a clear explanation without exaggerated emotional delivery. Review the voice, mouth motion, pace and ease of replacing a sentence.
If your audience uses another language, have a qualified speaker review that version. A translated script can be grammatically acceptable while missing the meaning of a feature or offer. Decide who owns language approval before scaling localization.
Brief B: a product ad
Supply the same approved product photos and factual description. Ask for a problem, a visible demonstration and a call to action. Check the packaging and offer throughout the export. A product URL may provide useful input, but it can also carry stale price, stock or marketing copy.
Use a review sheet with separate fields for product accuracy, claim accuracy, captions, pacing and file usability. Do not let an appealing actor hide a weak or misleading demonstration. Replace generated evidence with real footage where accuracy is essential.
Compare plan and API costs separately
Read the dated HeyGen pricing and Creatify pricing guides. Compare the full cost of accepted exports instead of unlike credit units. Both a cheap plan with many retries and an expensive plan with unused allowance can waste money.
If automation matters, inspect the specific API or MCP operation and account entitlement. A web feature appearing in a marketing demo does not prove that the same operation is available through every developer interface. Include storage, retry handling and human approval in an integration estimate.
When Clout is the better evaluation path
If the campaign revolves around a recognizable AI creator, evaluate Clout with a sequence of three different scenes. The test should ask whether the same persona remains recognizable across images and short clips. Keep a reference set, a wardrobe direction and one approved product input consistent.
A recurring identity is valuable only if the content has a reason to exist between ads. Plan useful organic demonstrations, answers and lifestyle context alongside commercial creative. That is a different requirement from selecting a presenter for a one-off explainer.
Make the choice from your pilot record
Choose the tool that clears your actual acceptance criteria with sustainable cost and revision time. Keep any remaining limitation visible: unsupported export, unverified API access, a product interaction you cannot approve or a language version awaiting review. Revisit the choice when your production job changes.
